Quilted Blanket

When we were in Connecticut for Thanksgiving, my mom set aside some stuffed animals for the baby that she came across when helping my grandmother move.  Tucked in with the stuffed animals was the beginning of a quilting project, a hand quilted 22 x 19 inch rectangle probably started by my grandmother decades ago.  Yenari, drawn in by anything sewing related, grabbed it and brought it back home with us.

After a trip to Jo-Ann fabrics, she added 3 borders around the original pattern and a backing fabric and was able to finish the sewing project that started decades before we were even born!  Since we don’t know the gender of the baby yet Yenari hedged her bets and bordered the original quilted design in yellow, pink, and blue.  Here it is:
