I'm still relieved and a little surprised that Greg, Andrew and Liza managed to become independent grown-ups with all the dramatic challenges (getting them to sleep, agonizing about pacifiers, etc)I fumbled through. Each one seemed momentous and morally charged. Liza says through high school I checked her at night to make sure she was still breathing.

You were a Simpson baby, Greg. I popped in a pacifier when nothing else worked, and you turned out OK.

what a great post!!! kudos for your honesty about the sleeping stuff. violet slept in our bed for the first 2 months because that was the only thing that worked. we would also take turns sleeping with her on the couch so someone could get real sleep in the bed. but i was too timid at the time to write about it in my blog. like people would think i'd have to go to college with her because she needed to sleep next to a parent. it's a sweet time so savor it while you can!

and remember with the pacifiers that you can always limit them to nighttime if you're worried about a slippery slope. i bet they'll help a lot with the wake ups, they did with us.

oh i just wish i could meet her! it's such a bummer to live so far away. thanks for keeping your blog up to date - i love to hear how you guys are doing!!
